I visited the Dolaucothi Gold Mines in June during a weekend away with friends. It was a fair drive from where we were staying, but absolutely worth it. We weren''t quite sure what to expect, and when we arrived, it was surprisingly quiet with not an awful lot of exhibits in the ''courtyard'' that is the base of the Roman open cast quarry.
